Hi, I’m Keating—a mom of two girls who turned a career in special education, child advocacy, and community engagement into a mission to help Maine families feel more informed, connected, and empowered.

My career began in special education and behavioral health. As a behavior specialist, educator, and case manager, I spent years helping families navigate school systems, disability services, behavioral health challenges, and all the challenges that can come with raising a child who needs extra support.

After a while, I realized I wanted to do more than help families navigate those systems—I wanted to be part of improving them. That’s what led me to step away from education and start working toward a career in law and public policy.

Around that same time, I became a Maine State Parent Ambassador. Getting to know parents from all over the state, with experiences so different from my own, has been one of the most meaningful parts of that journey. It’s challenged me, taught me a lot, and reinforced just how much parents can accomplish when they have the right information, support, and opportunities to get involved.

Today, I work in community engagement and policy for a Maine child advocacy nonprofit, and all of those experiences eventually led to Moms for Maine becoming what it is today. What started as a family resource website has grown into a space where Maine moms can find trusted information, connect with local resources, better understand the issues affecting their families, and feel confident using their voices to strengthen their communities.

I truly believe informed and engaged moms are one of the most powerful forces for change. My hope is that Moms for Maine helps more families feel connected, supported, and empowered to create that change—whether it’s in their own home, their local community, or across our state.
