Fairy Forest

Fairy Forest is a nature-based, child-led early learning program nestled on 66 acres of forested land in Saco, Maine. Serving children ages 3 to 5, Fairy Forest offers a unique educational experience that emphasizes play, exploration, and connection to the natural world.

Children at Fairy Forest spend their days immersed in outdoor classrooms, engaging in activities that foster curiosity and creativity. The program’s curriculum is inspired by pedagogies such as the Cedarsong Way, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and Montessori, allowing for individualized learning experiences that honor each child’s interests and developmental pace.

Indoor learning takes place in spacious, modern yurts equipped with insulation, heating, air conditioning, and plumbing, ensuring comfort throughout the year. These yurts are designed to withstand Maine’s diverse weather conditions, providing a safe and inviting environment for children to learn and grow.

Fairy Forest is proudly queer-owned and operated, committed to creating an inclusive and supportive space for all families. The program celebrates diversity and is dedicated to accommodating neurodiverse children, ensuring that every child feels valued and understood.

Recognizing the importance of accessibility, Fairy Forest participates in Maine’s Child Care Affordability Program, reserving full-time and part-time slots for families receiving financial assistance.
