Goat Island Lighthouse

Goat Island Lighthouse, established in 1835, is located on a small, treeless island at the entrance to Cape Porpoise Harbor near Kennebunkport, Maine. The current 25-foot cylindrical brick tower, built in 1859, emits a white flash every six seconds and is accompanied by a foghorn sounding every 15 seconds. The light was automated in 1990 and remains an active aid to navigation. While the island is not open to the public, the lighthouse can be viewed from shore in Cape Porpoise Harbor or by boat.
