Indian Island Lighthouse
Indian Island Lighthouse

Indian Island Lighthouse, located at the eastern entrance of Rockport Harbor in Maine, was established in 1850 to aid navigation for the bustling shipbuilding and lime industries of the time. The current square brick tower, built in 1875, stands 25 feet tall and was originally equipped with a fourth-order Fresnel lens. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1934 and replaced by an automatic light on nearby Lowell Rock. Today, the property is privately owned and not open to the public, but it remains a picturesque landmark visible from the harbor and nearby vantage points.
