Isle au Haut Lighthouse

Isle au Haut Lighthouse, also known as Robinson Point Light, was established in 1907 on the rugged western coast of Isle au Haut, Maine. Built to guide New England’s ground fishing fleet safely into harbor during storms, it was the last traditional lighthouse constructed in the state. The 48-foot cylindrical brick tower, connected to a Victorian-style keeper’s house by a wooden walkway, stands as a testament to early 20th-century maritime architecture. Automated in 1934, the lighthouse was later restored and remains an active aid to navigation. While the keeper’s house operates as a private inn, the lighthouse itself is not open to the public, but it can be viewed from boat tours departing from Stonington.
