Saco Heath Preserve is a 1,218-acre sanctuary in Saco, Maine, managed by The Nature Conservancy. This unique raised coalesced bog—the southernmost of its kind in North America—features a 1-mile boardwalk trail that winds through diverse peatland communities. Visitors can observe rare plant species like Atlantic white cedar and spot wildlife such as deer, moose, and the Hessel’s hairstreak butterfly. Open daily from sunrise to sunset, the preserve offers an easy, family-friendly hike through a remarkable natural landscape.
